I think we all can agree that Ohio Amish Country has some of the best food and baked goods in Ohio. Starting our trip off with a stop at Hershberger’s Farm in Holmes County was ideal. It introduced us to the warm and welcoming atmosphere in Ohio Amish Country and a peek into what was in store for the next three days.

During our drive from Michigan to Millersburg, Ohio, we viewed rolling hills, Amish buggies and scenic countryside. We’ve highlighted the best food, hikes, theater plays, museums, entertainment, shops and restaurants in our guide to experiencing a Magical Winter Getaway in Ohio Amish County.

On top of the list of our favorite stops was Hershberger’s Farm and Bakery, which we visited in December.

Where to Start

When you first arrive it may be difficult for you to choose where to begin… the farm or bakery?

Freshly Prepared Kettle Corn

The smell of fresh kettle corn will draw you toward the bakery as soon as you arrive. Watch as an Amish man prepares the kettle corn over an open-fire. Grab some to eat now or for the drive home.

The Bakery

Inside the bakery you can select from a variety of apples, fresh vegetables and produce. The best Amish canned strawberry jams, apple butters, and preserves will tempt you as you peruse the store. Snack mixes, grocery items, fresh baked pies, pastries, donuts, meats and cheeses are all available. They do accept credit cards, which is a good thing because you won't leave empty handed.

Apple, peach, raspberry, and chocolate are just a few of the many assorted flavors. The Barn

First grab a cider slushie, some kettle corn or a fry pie and then meander through the outdoor area, where you will find furniture, whiskey barrels, and signs spread out for you to shop.
